Jean McClung, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and has worked as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings for over 20 years. Dr. McClung is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She was a psychotherapist for many years on the adult outpatient unit of Northern Communities Mental Health Center in Pittsburgh. During her work at Northern Communities, she provided clinical supervision to psychology interns. She was also a psychotherapist at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, assessing and treating adolescents. Dr. McClung has particular skills in working with adults and adolescents in individual therapy. Dr. McClung works with a variety of problems, including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, panic disorder, life transitions, relationship issues, and under-achievement. She has completed level 2 training in EMDR. In her practice, Dr. McClung uses a combination of insight-oriented psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Sheree Kaiser, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. Ms. Kaiser earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh. Before joining North Hills Psychological Services, she was a psychotherapist for Heritage Valley Health System for 16 years, providing outpatient therapy and serving as a mental health liaison in local school districts. Prior to that, she worked for St. Francis Hospital for three years, both as an inpatient and outpatient therapist for children, teens, and adults.
She has extensive experience working with adults (individually and in couples therapy), teens, children (ages three and up), and families. Her areas of expertise include mood and anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, trichotillomania and skin picking, self-esteem, couples communication, death and dying issues, and life transitions. Additionally, she has experience working with LBGTQ clients, including trans adults and teenagers and their families. With children and teens, she specializes in child behavior issues, school avoidance, and empowering parents to advocate in the schools for their child’s specific academic and psychological needs.
Susan Rudisin is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of clinical experience. Ms Rudisin provides psychotherapy for adults who are experiencing mood disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, changes in life circumstances and adjustment to medical or physical challenges.
Prior to joining NHPS, Ms. Rudisin was on the staff of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic where she held a number of positions including Counselor/Psychotherapist, Programming Clinical Supervisor, Researcher and Rehabilitation Counselor.
Ms. Rudisin received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from CMU and her Masters in Rehabilitation from the University of Pittsburgh.
Lyndsey Smatana is a dedicated mental health professional with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is nearing the completion of her Ph.D. She brings a comprehensive and compassionate approach to mental health care, with a strong foundation in psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention.
Ms. Smatana provides individual therapy and behavioral consultation for children and adolescents, addressing a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns. Her clinical expertise also includes conducting psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on diagnosing conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders.
In addition to her work in outpatient and individual therapy settings, Ms. Smatana has facilitated group therapy for a diverse range of populations. Notably, she spent a year leading group therapy sessions for previously incarcerated older adult males, helping them navigate complex emotional and interpersonal challenges.
With a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and cultural sensitivity, Ms. Smatana is passionate about supporting individuals and families through tailored psychological care.
Laura Marshak, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist with over twenty years of clinical experience. She is also a professor at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her professional experience includes working at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic for ten years prior to assuming her position at the university. Dr. Marshak works with adults and couples and is experienced at addressing a wide range of problems, including anxiety, depression, self-worth, relationships, and life transitions. In addition, she has expertise in working with parents of children with disabilities on how to live well as a couple when faced with the intensified parenting demands that pose challenges to both couples and individuals. She has written numerous books on aspects of disability; many of these were with Dr. Milton Seligman, who was her mentor in this regard and one of the founding partners of North Hills Psychological Services.
Michelle Geckle, MA., LPC, is a licensed professional counselor with extensive experience in research, counseling, and clinical supervision. Ms. Geckle was on staff at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic for over 30 years. In her practice at NHPS, she works with adults on a wide range of problems, including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship concerns, gay/lesbian issues, adjustment to life changes, trauma, and abuse. She provides individual therapy and couples counseling. Ms. Geckle has a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh.
